Scorpius smiled at his girlfriend. "Pretty, just as you always do." He whispered softly, "What if I streaked my hair with black? Would I look like a skunk?" He had a surprise for Rose, but he wasn't ready to reveal it yet. It was a Muggle song that he had used magic to alter the words to. He just hoped she would like it. It was by Sir Elton John, and he was said to be quite good.
he shook his head. "Even if you lost your wand, there are ways to detect it. But the bit about hiding might be accurate. But then, wouldn't even wandless magic give you away?" Scorpius smiled. "I can do a wandless Summoning spell and a wandless levitation charm. And I can kinda do a wandless healing spell, but I can't heal major wounds yet. None of those are useful at all."
When Rose went silent, he waited for her to speak. When she did, he replied, "My father. He was pretty much the same way as your mum..."You should always be able to defend yourself without magic", he mimicked. "And I had to memorize the entire Malfoy line, which goes back, like, 30 generations. And then I was tested on them and had to list them. In order," Scorpius said.
Scorpius let a smile come across his face. "Are you kidding? I'd go mad trying to memorize the Weasley family tree." He shook his head. "Not a damned thing. Father's getting older, and I can beat him in a duel if I really try, whether magical or non-magical." He took Rose's hand. "We have a summer home that became legally mine when I turned of age. It's in the highlands of Scotland, so we can go there. I'm sure Kally would go with us...as I said, she likes me."
He grinned. "Whoo-hoo! Someday, you'll be Mrs. Rosetta Malfoy. That'll be great." He scowled for a moment." Yes. I told you, Father and Grandfather do it the Muggle way as well. Said it works better." With a smile, Scorpius pulled out a Muggle CD player. "I borrowed this from Professor Weasley, but the CD is mine." He told her how he used magic to alter the words and who it was by before adding, "And I'm the one singing. This song is called I Guess That's Why They Call it The Blues."
Don't wish it away Don't look at it like it's forever Between you and me I could honestly say That things can only get better
And while I'm away Dust out the demons inside And it won't be long before you and me run To the place in our hearts where we hide
And I guess that's why they call it the blues Time spent on Quidditch could be time spent with you Laughing like children, living like lovers Rolling like thunder under the covers And I guess that's why they call it the blues
Just stare into space Picture my face in your hands Live for each second without hesitation And never forget I'm your man
Wait on me Rose Cry in the night if it helps But more than ever I simply love you More than I love life itself
And I guess that's why they call it the blues Time spent on Quidditch could be time spent with you Laughing like children, living like lovers Rolling like thunder under the covers And I guess that's why they call it the blues

Rose laughed and shook her head. "If you streaked it, I would say your hair might look more like a zebra than a skunk." She teased, touching the tip of his hair and then laughing again. "My my, how much gel do you put in there?" She asked, grinning up at him. She had always wanted to ask, and since it appeared that he spent 10 minutes putting in gel...well he must be glad he was as rich as he seemed to be. That much gel, well he must get refills a lot. She wondered what exactly his room looked like...
Rose smiled at Scorpius and let her curiosity get the best of her. "How exactly do you do it? I'm having a little trouble doing the levitating...It will raise an inch or two off the surface and then fall back down. I use all my concentration and it doesn't seem to change a thing." She was halfway jealous of Scorpius, half way full of respect for him. If he could help her, since he was already doing some wandless magic maybe he could give her advice that wasn't in the books.
Rose curled up next to Scorpius, kissing his shoulder when he explained about his father. "I bet you aced it." She whispered to him, wishing he had a better childhood. One filled with love and caring. "I can't say you did a very good impression of your father or not, I haven't really seen or heard him that often." She said, smiling softly up at him. "What do you think?"
Rose smiled as she watched the smile curve his lips. She liked his smile. It was warm when he went it, and made her feel all to warm inside herself. It was almost like her heart was warming at the sight of him. "I won't even ask you to do it, and I'm pretty sure you could if you really applied yourself. Sometimes you don't need the knowledge of great spells to win a battle, but knowing how to use a simple spell is all you need." She replied happy that no one could intrude on them. They had changed the password so Lily couldn't get in at all.
Rose blinked and looked at the music player Scorpius had in his hands. She was unfamiliar with the name of the original singer, but since Scorpius said he altered it with his own voice and changed some of the words, she was sure she would like it. The smile began to grow as she moved to the music, biting her lower lip as she heard his beautiful voice of the player's speakers. When it was finished, she wrapped her arms tightly around his neck and hugged him tightly. "It beautiful, Scorpius. I can't wait to become your wife..." She hugged him so she wouldn't begin crying, because she could feel the tears trying to surface. Could she help it she was so happy?

Scorpius grinned. "Well, that wouldn't go over well at all, now would it?" He let her touch his hair and shrugged. "I dunno...quite a bit. I have to make sure everything is in place. And the charm I use helps too." He was quite rich, but never bragged about it. He just made sure that when the holidays came 'round that his friends got excellent gifts, usually fancy things that they couldn't afford, like new brooms or Quidditch gear.
Scorpius held Rose's hand and kissed the side of her neck. "Would you like to see my rooms sometime? Both here and at the Manor? And I could see yours?" He closed his eyes briefly and thought about her question before answering. "For me, it's all about willpower. I...it's like...how do I explain this?" He ran a hand through his hair. "I just focus on it and I see it levitating. And boom, it works." He had a new respect for Rose. It took a big person to admit when they had trouble doing something, and Scorpius tended to have a pride problem at times.
He nodded. "Barely, but I did." He kissed her shoulder and sighed. He was jealous of Rose's childhood. So full of love and understanding, and people who actually cared about you for you, not for what you could do for them. Scorpius' face brightened when he thought of the girl in his arms and spoke. "I think I did."
Scorpius wiped away a tear that had formed by Rose's eye. "Shush now, don''t cry. My singing isn't that bad, now is it?" He gave her a grin. "Well, we could always have a double wedding with Professor Weasley and Mr. Lupin." He wanted so badly to put that ring on Rose's finger, to claim her and make her his. But Scorpius didn't want to scare her off, either. So he simply asked, "What's your ring size, and what kind of stones do you like besides diamonds?" He gave her a hug. "And I can't wait to become your husband. We're of age, after all." He was truly happy, here in this moment.

Rose smiled and closed her eyes. "I'd think you'd look handsome no matter what you did with your hair. Put black streaks in it, dye it, forget to gel it down, I'll always love you." She said, then opening her eyes again as she asked. "What charm do you use to tame your hair?" She had never seen a strand out of place, it seemed Scorpius would never let anyone see him that way. He always came out of his room with that as hair.
Rose shivered as Scorpius kissed her neck, her breathing quickening when she felt his lips against the skin of her neck. Shethought about the current state of her room. It wasn't that it was a mess, it was just she had her dress out, and some other undergarments left unmentioned so he wouldn't be entering her room until she fixed that. "I can't let you in now, I have my dress for the ball out and it would ruin the effect of the masquerade if I let you in there." And I would die of embarrassment, but you don't need to know that. Rose took a deep breathe and looked at her Arithmancy textbook. Closing her eyes, she pictured the book rising, focused on that image. Hopefully, if she did this right...the book would rise.
Rose laughed softly and hugged him tighter. "I'm proud of you." She whispered, knowing that it must have been hard. He had said he had to learn...thirty generations? That already is at least 60 people, wives and all and that didn't count the other children that might have been born during the marriages and he had to remember them in order. She laughed as he said he did a good impression of his dad. Pecking his cheek, she grinned at him. "I bet you did."
Rose laughed and brushed away her tears. "That was so sweet." She said, her voice wavering just a bit as she hugged him again. "Your singing was amazing..." She whispered, holding his head between her hands and kissing his lips. "Scorpius...maybe but I still think we should wait just a bit. Maybe until the war is over so we're not left in the same situation as them." She raised an eyebrow at his question. "My Zodiac stone is a ruby, and it matches my hair is red so I like the rubies. My ring size is 5, though. Why are you asking?" She loved this man in her arms so much, but she wanted everyone else to know they didn't just rush into this.

Scorpius smiled. "Thank you. But I would never dye it. Mother and Father would go mad." He gave her a grin. "And the same to you, my dear. I will always love you, no matter what." He shrugged. "I just use a basic Flattening charm to keep it in place. I forgot to mention, that's the only other wandless spell I can do. But at least I'll always look good."
Scorpius thought about Rose's room as she spoke. Surely it would be feminine and sweet and utterly...Rose. His own room was pretty neat, his tux hanging in the closet with his shoes right below it, and his mask on the hanger atop his tux. His shirt was on a different hanger and everything was ironed. That was just how he was...perfection to the end.
His walls were adorned with different Muggle bands, most notably the heavy metal rocker Ozzy Osbourne and the pop rock singer Elton John. There were pictures of him and his friends up there as well, and of course family. Scorpius didn't look like the type to listen to Muggle music, but he did. His father, disgusted with him, had just flat-out refused to buy him anything Muggle. Now it was his mother who did that, even going so far as to have electric outlets installed in his room for his battery recharger.
Of course, his walls at Hogwarts had pretty much the same thing on them. He had an MP3 player that he had modified to only work at Hogwarts, and it ran on magic. But it would be useless after this year...the magic and wards of the castle were what powered it. Here his sheets were made of emerald silk, with silver and green hangings, which bore the Slytherin crest. His wall above his bed had a Slytherin banner on it, and the comforter on his bed also had the Slytherin crest on it.
Pulling himself back to the present, Scorpius said, "I am sure your room is beautiful." He gave her another kiss." As Rose said she was proud of him, he smiled like a Cheshire cat. He let her hold his head between her hands, completely and utterly trusting her. She was his girlfriend and best friend, after all. He sighed. "Maybe you are right. Who wants to have to hide our love? I want to let the world know." He cocked one eyebrow and gave her a look. "So I know what to get you in the future, silly. My ring size is a 9 1/2, and I like emeralds. But my Zodiac stone is an amethyst or a pearl. However, I've always liked emeralds and white gold...they go well with my skin tone and hair."

Rose laughed softly, the sound almost like a giggle. She could just imagine Scorpius walking to the room with his parents and their reaction. She imaged Draco would stand up, fist clenched and the Malfoy's pale skin going a bit red. His mother would demand that he change it back, that is after she got over the shock that the man before he really was her son. She smiled over at him, letting the words he spoke soak in and warm her. Rose wrapped her arms around Scorpius' neck so she could bring herself close enough to kiss his lips.
"It's decorated like any other Gryffindor's room. Gold and Red wallpaper around the walls and my bed sits in the middle against the back wall. I have more space than I know what to do with, considering I was used to sharing the dorm with about...four others." Rose admitted, shrugging as if it was nothing special. In her mind, it was true. She had a scrap book she had been making on her cherry wood dresser, and in the bookcase she placed her books that she wasn't currently needing. Of course, most of the time she carried them with her in her bag but during Hogsmeade weekends she didn't need them with her. She needed room to buy more books. She smiled at the thought of flaunting their love, but was brought up short about what it would do to her poor cousin. Victorie might be even more miserable if they did. "I should have known you liked Emeralds," Her gaze landed on his lips again. "You are a Slytherin, and you like the green gem. I'm Gryffindor, and I like the red gem. Together, we're one of the best holidays of the year."

Scorpius smiled at Rose's giggle. He was picturing his parents reactions, and the thought was quite comical. His father's face would have two spots of red appear high on his cheekbones, as they did whenever he was embarrassed or angry. His mother would get upset and carry on, ranting about how he had no respect for himself or tradition. He shook his head and wrapped himself around Roses, their bodies intertwined, and kissed her deeply.
He listened to Rose describe her room and nodded. "My room is much the same, except the wallpaper is, of course, silver and green. My bed is pushed off to the left side of my room, land my dresser is in the middle. My dresser is oak, painted black. And I have a matching bookcase that I keep my spare books in, the ones I read for fun." He told her of all the things he had on his walls and shrugged. "I had to share with four others as well until I got the Head Boy position." Scorpius gave a deep laugh. "You mean Christmas? I suppose we are, in a way."

Rose moved her right came to the back of Scorpius' neck, placing her mouth more securely against his. She had closed her eyes and couldn't seem to get any closer to Scorpius' even if she tried. She kept her arms around him, holding him to her as she nibbles softly on the skin at his collarbone. "I love you." She whispered, not caring about what his parents would think, or even what anyone else thought. He was hers, and she was his. They could make due without them if they needed to.
Rose smiled as he described his room. She closed her eyes and imagined what he said, in a room just the same size as hers. She grinned when he was finished and finally opened her eyes. "It sounds lovely. You must really be comfortable in a room like that." She kept her smile soft, looking into his gray ones. "Yes, I mean Christmas." She said, trying not laugh too hard. "What other great holiday could I be talking about? At Christmas it's a chance to get others gifts and spend together doing things to draw you closer to each other. It's a time of cheer, and there's only one thing that could ruin it."

Scorpius his hands so the left one was on her neck, while the right one was wrapped around her waist. It was impossible for him to get any closer to Rose without physically being on top of her. He smiled into her mouth as she nibbled gently at his collarbone. He kissed her neck, careful not to leave a hickey. "I love you too," he whispered back. She was his, and he hers. No one could separate them, not even their families.
Though it would pain him to be disowned by his family, he would give up everything for Rose, and was sure she felt the same way. Scorpius gave a half-smile. "Yeah, it suits me well." His grey eyes locked onto her blue ones. As she spoke of something ruining Christmas, he frowned. "What could possibly ruin Christmas when I'm with you? Oh, and what would you like for Christmas?" He kissed her and waited for her reply.

Rose smiled and kissed the stop she had been nibbling on. She ran her hands down his back, then back up to softly rub his shoulders. "It almost seems like nothing could ruin this moment, and like it could go on forever..." Rose stated, completely happy and finding she didn't have a worry in the world as long as she was with him. Just being with him relieved any stress she might have had. Sadly, it was getting rather late since they had been in there...all alone. Rose's eyelids were getting a little heavy.
Rose smiled, and she was positive it suited him to the T. "Death is the only thing that could ruin Christmas." Rose replied, using one hand to guide his head back up to her lips. She kissed his lips softly and smiled into his eyes. "But the war isn't as bad as it could be at this time. Hopefully there will be nothing to ruin our first Christmas as a real couple." Stupid war, and she was saying that for their benefit, and for Teddy and Victorie's. They couldn't be together now... "What do I want?" Rose thought about that and nothing came to mind. "Why, I have all I need." She said, smiling and holding him close. "All I want for Christmas, is you."

Scorpius smiled at his girlfriend. "It really does, doesn't it? Unfortunately, we have to go to bed soon, or we'll never get up in the morning." He glanced at his watch. "It's already past curfew...not that I give a damn right now." He lightly nibbled Rose's neck. "Rose, do you want to take a moonlit broomride with me sometime? I mean, how well do you like flying?"
Scorpius' eyelids were starting to sag. It was a bit late, and while he was stress and worry-free at the moment, it was only because he was with Rose. He gave her a grin. "I know the perfect presents for you, dear heart." He was thinking of a broom and a promise ring, one that had their names engraved on the inside of it. But of course, he wouldn't tell her that. He kissed her again and spoke. "I can't think of anything I want or need. Just you by my side and us against the world, backed by our families."

"We can stay here and sleep..." Rose said, exposing her neck to him and holding his hands in hers. It was interesting. She was up out of the Head's Common Room, and it was past curfew. She didn't feel a bloody thing other than happiness. She wasn't sure if that could be a good thing or a bad thing. Good because of how she felt, bad because they could get hurt or killed when out living on their own if they didn't have a sense of propriety. "I can fly pretty well, actually. I just didn't want to take time away from my studies to be one of the people who go in for a starter when they're hurt or tired."
Rose looked up at Scorpius to see his eyelids begin to fall as well. She smiled back at him as he grinned. He looked so handsome right now. "You do?" She asked, wondering what you gave a boy who could have anything in the world if he wanted. Perhaps she could get him a scrap book, with pictures of them together from the time they were first years. She would need more pictures for this year, but those were easily managed. She liked taking pictures of her life in Hogwarts, having told Scorpius she wanted her children to see what she was like when she was in Hogwarts herself. Not many funny ones, but perhaps they could make some funny ones this year. She was Head Girl, and could already take her NEWTS and it was only October of their Seventh Year.

Scorpius gave a tired grin. He kneaded Rose's neck with his hands, giving her a mini-massage. Normally, he was pretty good about following the rules, but the only people who could even could find them here would be a professor. And he was already on it if they checked in his dorm. He had stuffed pillows under his blankets to make it look like he was asleep in the dark. Of course, it wouldn't hold up to a life-detection spell, but as Head Boy and Head Girl, they were cut a lot of slack.
He nodded thoughtfully. So Rose could fly, and well. This was good news for him. Made his job a lot easier. He gave her a gentle poke and said, "So what about that moonlit ride?" As Head Boy, he could take his N.E.W.T.s now, but was waiting until at least March to give himself time to prepare. Scorpius gave a wink. "I do. And you'll love them, I'm sure." That was the downside of growing up rich, he mused. You already had everything you could possibly want. Reflecting back on it, though, there was one thing he didn't have, and that was a scrapbook of them. That would be precious to him.

Rose smiled and nodded. "A moonlit ride sounds nice, actually, but maybe another day. It's maybe...one o'clock in the morning now? We have early classes so maybe another time." His fingers were very talented, feeling them on her neck she could almost fall asleep right here...It was very tempting but they didn't have clothes and she really didn't want the stench of the room on her tomorrow. Then everyone would know where they had been, in fact if they were even caught on the way back to the Head's Dorm everyone would know. Meeting a ghost would even be bad.
Rose smiled and kisses his nose after he winked. He looked sexy as hell right now. "I'm sure i will, love." She nearly whispered, thinking in an amusement that he had been her friend for years now. He was sure to know what she liked, what she didn't, her faults, her strengths. She also knew everything about him. If asked, even in her tired state, she could write a paper three feet long about one Mister Scorpius Malfoy.

Scorpius looked at his watch. "1:15am, to be precise. And you're right, we do. I didn't mean tonight, dear. Maybe tomorrow, since it's Saturday and we have no classes?" How he wished they could sleep right there, wrapped together as close as two people could be, but they had no spare clothes, and to do a cleaning spell, they'd have to take off said clothes. And he wasn't ready to take their relationship to that level yet. He was sure Rose wasn't either.
Perhaps he could bribe the Bloody Baron, if they happened to see him, not to tell on them. But how does one bribe a ghost? Scorpius wondered. He kissed Rose back on her nose. Merlin, but she looked like a goddess right now. Tempting and sexy, she may well have been a Siren sent to lure him to hell. But if being with her was hell, then sign me up for all of eternity, he thought.
There was a definite upside to this business of being friends first, though. He knew her like a book, and she him. In fact, he could write a book on one Miss Rosetta Weasley, if he wanted. Maybe he should...it would be a good reference for him if ever he forgot something about her. Scorpius grinned at his thoughts and stood, stretching before holding out a hand. "Come on, love. I'll walk you back to your dorm."
